It has excellent oxidation resistance, thermal shock resistance, and slag resistance, while significantly improving high-temperature flexural strength of the refractories incorporated with them. It’s suitable for a variety of unshaped and shaped refractory products, such as BF trough castables, BF taphole mud, sliding plates, silicon nitride-bonded silicon carbide bricks, etc.

The recommended addition level of the ultrafines in BF trough castables is around 3%, and it can be further optimized and adjusted according to customer's formulation system. After adding this kind of additive in a BF trough castable, the following benefits have been achieved:
1. HMOR is increased by more than 40%.
2. Slag resistance index is increased by more than 25%.
3. Oxidation index is reduced by more than 30%.
4. Thermal shock resistance is increased by more than 35%.
5. Cold bending strength is increased by more than 20%.
